Nail Mail

Okay so Friday, I received some much anticipated nail polish from my favorite brand, Zoya.  I participated in the GMA (Good Morning America) promotion and purchased the Spring Break Trio, which included Wednesday, Shelby and Tracie for $12.00.  Each polish is normally $8.00 a piece so what a great opportunity to get these polishes for half off!  While I was in shop mode, I also purchased Zoya Rory and Zoya Zuza.

Now for my review of each of the polishes but first, let me make a general statement.  I found all of these polishes to be darker than I anticipated.

So lets start with the three polishes from the Zoya Summer 2012 Beach Collection:

Shelby-  This is a cream base pink polish.  It shows on Zoya's website as a barbie pink polish that is on the lighter side.  I continue to see many posted photos of this polish all turning out on the lighter side.  Mine, on the other hand shows up darker and almost venturing over to hot pink.  I think it has something to do with the lighting while taking the photo because this shows up much lighter that it actually is.  Its not a bad color, but it is not the best color for me.  I see some fuchsia/magenta tones to this polish and I usually stay away from those but maybe this summer I will rock the hot pink!

Tracie-  This is a shimmery green polish.  I am not into green polish but I have to say this one was the most true to color for me.  I also like that this polish was a shimmer unlike Shelby and Wednesday which were both cream base polishes.  I see most people complaining the other way around but I like for polishes to stand out and not just by color but by character.  So, I have to say even though green is not my favorite color I appreciate this polish from the Beach summer 2012 collection the most.

Wednesday-  Ahh...Wednesday.  A teal cream based color.  I Love the swatches I see of this color online, it is why I purchased the color.  However, it does not look like that on me.  It is DARK!  Not so dark that I wouldn't wear it but dark enough for me to have to double check the bottle to make sure it is Wednesday (I did the same thing for Shelby).  It appears so vibrate and full of life in many of the swatches I saw but it is definitely muted, dark and it leaves a lot to be desired.

Over all, I was not thrilled with either of these which is odd because i LOVE Zoya.  This is my honest opinion however and when I think the green polish Tracie, is the best out of the three, that is saying a lot.  Green is my least favorite color next to red.

Now moving on to the two polishes I purchased from the Zoya Summer 2012 Surf collection:

Rory-  A metallic foiled pink nail polish.  No No No...it did not work for me.  Again, i thought the swatches were beautiful.  A shimmer foil pink polish with purple undertones, whats not to like about that, right?  Well, it did not look like that on me.  It was DARK.  It was definitely fuchsia borderline purple, and less pink than anything.

Zuza-  I was mostly looking forward to this polish out of all the ones I ordered.  It is a very nice polish but it does not go very well with my skin tone.  This is a Foil metallic teal/aqua polish that is bright and reflects well in natural sunlight.  When you are not outside enjoying great weather it looks dark and less bold.  Over all, this one was okay!

I look forward to seeing more 2012 collections from Zoya with maybe some softer colors and a few sheers.
